Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko has ordered to check on the head of the Energy Customs, Anatolii Komar, after a journalistic investigation.

"I have instructed the Ministry of Finance, together with the State Customs Service, with the involvement of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and law enforcement agencies, to check the facts presented in journalistic investigations about the head of the Energy Customs of Ukraine, Anatolii Komar," she said.

Svyrydenko emphasizes that the results of the inspection and the measures taken should be reported immediately.

Background

The journalists of the Skhemy project found out that the head of the Energy Customs, Anatolii Komar, who officially earns UAH 90,000 per month, lives much more affluently: he lives in an elite apartment in Kyiv, uses a Mercedes S-class, and his daughter studies at one of the most prestigious colleges in London.

Komar's declaration states that he is supported by his wife and her family. According to journalists, Maria Komar is engaged in excursions and online courses, and her income last year amounted to more than UAH 4 million.

In 2020, Komar's father-in-law bought a plot of land in the village of Vyshenky near Kyiv. A 450-square-meter mansion is currently being completed there. Experts estimate the property's value at around UAH 70 million.

Komar uses a 2018 Mercedes S-Class, which he rents for only UAH 15,000 per month, which is 16 times cheaper than the market price.

Komar's minor daughter, according to Skhemy, lives abroad, although her declaration states that she lives in Ukraine. In 2023, she graduated from a private school in Cyprus and then entered King's College London. A year of study there costs about UAH 1.5 million. Komar said that the payment was made by the child's godfather.

Journalists also report that Komar is in charge of the Left Bank and Rokita football clubs. The latter is sponsored by VM Groupe, a company involved in a case of tax fraud worth billions.

Svyrydenko's other orders

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Ukraine held a working meeting with Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko. She instructed him to speed up the competition to select the head of the customs.

Svyrydenko also announced a reset at the National Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).
