The Ukrainian Navy struck the Russian support vessel NEFRIT in the port of Sochi with an unmanned surface vessel.

The Russian multi-purpose support vessel NEFRIT was targeted by a Ukrainian attack in Sochi. According to the Ukrainian Navy, a powerful explosion occurred near the vessel, after which smoke was observed.
The NEFRIT, flying the Russian flag, was used to support the Russian maritime and energy infrastructure.
The vessel facilitated oil and gas operations, serviced offshore facilities, transported various cargoes and personnel, and performed underwater technical work.

Why vessel became target
The Ukrainian Navy states that NEFRIT's operations were linked to supporting Russia's military economy and helped finance the aggression against Ukraine.
Therefore, according to the Ukrainian side, the vessel's destruction inflicts damage on Russia's logistics, its special capabilities, and its military infrastructure.
The Ukrainian military emphasizes that it continues to strike targets that provide the Russian side with the resources and capabilities necessary to wage war.
The Navy also stresses that even Russia's rear infrastructure cannot be considered a safe zone.
