Ukraine’s military weighs in on possible Russian landing in Kherson

Russian forces continue attempts to land on the island area of the Kherson region, but there is no indication of preparations for a full-scale amphibious assault, states the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
"To prepare a landing zone, one must know where the landing could take place. Currently, the entire island area is under the control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces," he noted.
Voloshyn confirmed that the enemy does not abandon efforts to land throughout the island zone, conducting 2–3 assault actions. However, these are more likely sabotage-reconnaissance and sabotage-search operations.
"Well, it's too early to speak of any active crossing operations, because one or two individuals, these so-called assault groups, I don't know what exactly they’re planning to assault," the spokesperson said. "They try to land on one of the islands and entrench themselves there. Drones drop supplies, ammunition, food, water, for them, and they stay on these islands for a day or two until Ukraine’s Defense Forces eliminate them."
He emphasized that talk of the enemy seizing any footholds is premature, as such actions are not currently taking place.
Attacks on the Kherson region
Russian forces regularly attack the Kherson region, resulting in frequent reports of damage, destruction, and casualties.
Due to this, on July 24, the list of settlements subject to mandatory evacuation was expanded. According to the Regional Military Administration, families with children are prohibited from entering these zones.
“These are dangerous areas that are constantly under enemy shelling and drone attacks,” the Regional Military Administration explained.
