The Russian high-precision versatile intermediate gliding munition UMPB D-30SN contains an integrated satellite navigation system. Dozens of enterprises are involved in its production, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reports.

According to the Ukrainian spy agency, the UMPB is a high-precision guided aerial munition with an integrated warhead built into the body. The bomb has an equivalent to the guided aerial bomb FAB-250. Its internal modules and units are similar to those used in the Unified Planning and Correction Modules (UMPK), in particular the autopilot module - S.M.A.R.T.

The carriers of the aerial bomb may include Su-34, Su-30SM, Su-35, Su-24 bombers, and the Hunter S-70 UAV. The bomb’s range is up to 100 km when deployed from an altitude of 12–15 km.

Preliminary reports indicate these gliding bombs can also be launched from ground platforms - 300 mm Tornado-S multiple rocket launchers using a starting motor.

HUR found that to operate under electronic warfare conditions, the UMPB’s navigation suite includes a satellite navigation system with an adaptive antenna array (CRPA) - the Kometa-M8.

The patent holder and principal organizer of UMPB production is the Russian Tactical Missile Armament corporation, while the key contractor is the Concern Granit-Electron JSC, part of the corporation.

“Dozens of enterprises involved in producing the UMPB D-30SN have long been known for their ties to Russia’s military-industrial complex and are already under sanctions by most countries in the sanctions coalition. However, some manufacturers and suppliers of components for the Russian aerial bomb have so far remained outside sanction policies and therefore continue to have access to foreign components, equipment, and technologies,” HUR stressed.
