Ukraine's intelligence reacts to strike on Engels airbase: Damage confirmed
There is damage reported over explosions at the Russian airfield in Engels. Ukrainian intelligence is gathering data, according to a representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Andrii Yusov.
"The Russians themselves, in public sources, report damage to at least two aircraft. We will be cautious for now, clarify that as a result of this incident, of course, there is damage, data is being collected," he said.
Yusov noted that there are no comments on who conducted this operation and with what.
The intelligence officer explains that the Engels airfield remains a very important strategic object for Russia. It is a base for bombers that strike Ukraine. According to the representative of the intelligence, the facility also poses a danger to Europe.
"To some extent for Putin, this is a strategic object, so the relocation (of aircraft - ed.) from there is possible, but they will try to continue using it. This means that incidents will continue both there and at other facilities," Yusov said.
