Ukraine's intelligence chief on drone war: Russia introducing innovations
Ukraine still maintains an advantage over Russia in the context of drone warfare. However, Russian forces are now extensively using FPV drones with cables, which poses a significant problem, states the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, during the live broadcast on the national telethon.
"In the drone war, we are still winning, but the Russians have massively turned to using drones with cables. This is what is referred to as fiber optics. Yes, this is currently a huge problem for us," Budanov emphasized.
He explained that such Russian FPV drones cannot be stopped using electronic warfare (EW) systems.
"This is a kind of innovation and trend of this year," added the head of the Defense Intelligence.
According to Budanov, work is planned next year to find a technological solution to counter the large number of such drones.
Drone production in Ukraine
This year, Ukraine has continued to increase its drone production. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Ukrainian-made products account for nearly 96% of the drone segment.
Additionally, as emphasized by the head of the Ukrainian government, Ukraine produces the largest quantity of self-propelled artillery among all free-world countries.
Recently, Forbes highlighted that Ukrainian defenders have started equipping drones with shotguns to take down enemy drones.
