Ukrainian Armed Forces control some areas in the Kursk region
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding some positions in Russia’s Kursk region, Voloshyn says.
He said that these are small, separate areas.
"For example, this is the area around the settlement of Novy Put, where we control the entire forested area around it. We also control the area around the settlement of Politotdielsky and the nearby forested area," Voloshyn said.
The commander noted that about a year ago, Russian forces aggressively sought to drive the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of these areas.
"But they left a large number of their personnel there and abandoned this task. Of course, we did not move further either, because we have our own problems that need to be dealt with," he explained.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russian propagandists were spreading disinformation ahead of the second anniversary of the Kursk operation by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
They are discrediting Ukraine’s Defense Forces and spreading unfounded accusations of crimes against the civilian population.
In addition, in 2025, then-Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Kursk operation was a response to the enemy’s preparations for a new offensive campaign in the northern part of Slobozhanshchyna.
