Ukraine is ready to halt hostilities across all front-line sectors right now if Russia does the same, states Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy reacted to the successful completion of the mission to evacuate residents of occupied Oleshky.
"After months of hunger and isolation under Russian occupation, they are finally safe. Those who chose to stay must have unhindered humanitarian access. We thank the American side and Melania Trump for their mediation," Sybiha emphasized.
In this context, he also recalled that Ukraine had been raising the alarm about the situation in Oleshky for a long time, including raising this issue at UN Security Council meetings.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that many of Ukraine's allies were involved in the process of rescuing Ukrainians.
"I am grateful to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, our partners, fellow ministers, and officials who helped respond to the humanitarian catastrophe in Oleshky. I thank Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and his team for coordinating the operation on the ground," Sybiha added.
Against the backdrop of recent events, the Foreign Minister suggested that the results in Oleshky could serve as a confidence-building measure and pave the way for further steps in the peace process.
"If hostilities can be stopped in one place, they can be stopped everywhere, and permanently. Ukraine is ready. We expect the same from Russia," Sybiha concluded.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported on how the residents of Oleshky escaped occupation and starvation.
Incidentally, on October 31, Russia stated that it had reached an agreement with Ukraine on regular humanitarian missions.
