Ukraine's Defense Minister meets with Patriot SAM manufacturer

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine met with a delegation from Raytheon, which is one of the leading manufacturers of weapons, including Patriot systems, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The delegation included Raytheon's Vice President of Ground and Air Defense Systems, Joe Deanton.
According to Umerov, the main topic of the talks was strengthening the protection of Ukrainian skies. The issue of Ukraine's need for additional systems and missiles was raised. Kyiv is ready to invest in this area, as it is about the lives of citizens and the country's stability.
"Expanding cooperation between the United States and Ukraine in the defense industry is one of our strategic courses. Deepening cooperation with Raytheon is a strategic component of this cooperation. Ukrainian defense companies are open to cooperation with American manufacturers to make the process of maintenance and support of weapons faster and better," the minister adds.
Patriot air defense system
The Patriot air defense system is an American medium- and long-range air defense system developed by Raytheon. It is designed to intercept aircraft, cruise, and ballistic missiles, has a phased array radar, and high-precision interceptor missiles.
The system has been in active use since the 1980s and is constantly being modernized, including the PAC-3 version, which specializes in combating ballistic threats. Patriot is in service with the United States and many NATO countries.
The New York Times recently reported that Ukraine is to receive two additional Patriot air defense systems this summer.
