Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi held his first phone conversation with the newly appointed Supreme Allied Commander Europe, US Air Force General Alexus Grynkewich, according to Syrskyi's post on Telegram.

"The conversation took place in the spirit of true partnership. I received firm commitments of support from both America and the Alliance. Following the recent statement by US President Trump and NATO Secretary General Rutte about a new weapons package for Ukraine, we look forward to an intensive phase of cooperation in the coming months," Syrskyi said.

Ukraine's Army Chief also thanked Grynkewich for his support of Ukraine.

"I am sincerely grateful for the reliability and loyalty in supporting the Ukrainian Defense Forces," Syrskyi added.

General Grynkewich assumed command of NATO forces in Europe on July 4, replacing General Christopher Cavoli, who had led NATO's forces since 2022.

The reports indicate that General Grynkewich is among the members of Trump's team who believe that Ukraine can win the war against Russia. Grynkewich stated this openly during his confirmation hearings in Congress.
