Ukraine's army chief outlines key military tasks on Kursk axis
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrskyi outlined the key tasks for the Ukrainian military in the Kursk direction. Currently, the AFU is eliminating Russian forces despite their numerical superiority.
"Our primary task now is to strengthen the resilience of our defense, inflict maximum losses on the enemy, prepare reserves, and ensure uninterrupted supply of ammunition and other logistical materials to units and subdivisions," Syrskyi said.
According to Ukraine's army chief, work continues almost around the clock, both at command posts and directly on the battlefield.
"Our soldiers are effectively and systematically destroying the advancing enemy forces, which have numerical superiority," Syrskyi added.
What is happening on Kursk axis
Ukrainian forces have been conducting an offensive operation in the Kursk region for four months. As Syrskyi previously noted, Ukraine's losses are actually half of those suffered by the Russians in this direction.
And although, as of the end of November, Ukraine had lost 40% of the territory it controlled in the Kursk region during the active phase of the offensive, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested using the Kursk operation for diplomatic moves.
Regarding Russian losses in the Kursk region, as of late October, Russia had lost 17,819 soldiers, both killed and wounded. In addition, the Ukrainian military captured over 700 Russians.
