The Pokrovsk direction remains the hottest along the entire 1,200-kilometer frontline of the Russian-Ukrainian war. No fewer than fifty combat clashes take place there every day, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reports.

"It is precisely in this direction that the Russians created their largest grouping - about 111,000 personnel," Syrskyi stated.

According to Ukraine's Army Chief, the enemy does not stop trying to break through to the administrative border of the Donetsk region.

"They (Russians - ed.) want to do this not only to achieve some operational results, but primarily for demonstrative purposes. To get a psychological effect: to put the notorious 'foot of the Russian soldier,' stick in a flag, and trumpet another pseudo-'victory,'" Syrskyi added.

As Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief noted, two weeks ago, Russian sabotage and assault groups were especially actively pushing in this area. "But all of them were destroyed, and the remnants were driven farther away from the administrative border. The situation is under control," Ukraine's Army Chief reported.

Trip to front line

Syrskyi made a working trip to the Pokrovsk direction, where he spoke with Ukrainian soldiers in close proximity to the line of combat engagement and on subsequent defense lines.

"I held meetings with units of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine, who are courageously holding back and destroying the enemy. I was able to study the operational situation in detail and identify all problem areas. I gave instructions necessary for the effective fulfillment of defense tasks," Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief said.

Russian offensive

According to the Washington Post, this summer Russia will carry out a large-scale offensive in the eastern part of Ukraine's Donetsk region, which it has been trying to capture since the beginning of the war. In addition, the Kremlin plans to conduct smaller attacks along the border of Ukraine's northeastern Sumy and Kharkiv regions to increase pressure on already overextended Ukrainian frontline forces.

Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Defense Forces had stopped the enemy's advance in the Sumy region.
