Ukraine’s armed forces chief unveils layered defense system against Russian drones

Ukraine’s Defense Forces are building a layered system to counter Russian Shahed and Geran attack drones. This is one of the country’s key priorities, stated Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"I held a comprehensive meeting dedicated to developing this segment of air defense. We are creating a layered system to counter enemy Shaheds and Gerans," Syrskyi stated.
According to him, the task now is to form as many drone-interception crews as possible, train more interceptor operators, and provide additional effective means to detect and destroy drones.
Air defense is currently a top priority for Ukraine. Therefore, a decision was made to take several steps to improve the system, including:
-
Continuing the recruitment and training of interceptor drone crews,
-
Creating new dedicated units,
-
Fixing shortcomings and strengthening efforts in the drone-interceptor sector.
"I thank the guardians of our skies for their professional work in shooting down enemy aerial targets. I am grateful to our entire civilian sector working to protect our skies, and especially to all volunteers for their significant contribution to developing and implementing innovations for effective counteraction to Russian aerial terrorism," Syrskyi added.
