Ukraine's Air Force downs 50 out of 73 Russian drones launched overnight
On the night of November 24, Russian troops launched 73 drones into Ukraine. The air defense system shot down 50 of them, and four more are still in the air, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“On the night of November 24, the occupiers attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type attack UAVs and unidentified drones from the Orel and Bryansk region,” the report says.
In total, the Ukrainian Defense Forces detected and escorted 73 Russian UAVs.
Air defense operations
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare equipment, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine are repelling the attack.
“As of 09:00 a.m. (Kyiv time), air defense has shot down 50 enemy drones in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Zhytomyr regions,” the Air Force said.
19 drones were lost, presumably due to active counteraction by the Defense Forces' electronic warfare.
“There are 4 enemy UAVs in the air, combat operations are ongoing! Information is being updated,” the military said.
Russian attack on Ukraine
Russian troops attack Ukraine every night. Most often, they use combined attacks with missiles and drones.
Russia tried to attack the capital of Ukraine. Explosions were heard in Kyiv, and air defense systems operated in the Kyiv region.
As it turned out later, the drones entered the city on different courses. The air defense system shot down all the Russian drones flying towards Kyiv. There were more than ten of them.
