Ukraine's air defenses battle massive overnight Russian drone and missile attack

During the night of July 25, Russia attacked Ukraine with two missiles and 157 attack drones. Ukrainian air defenses shot down the majority of the incoming targets, although some strikes were recorded, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Overnight, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with:
- two Kh-59/69 guided air-to-surface missiles launched from the airspace over the Black Sea;
- 157 Shahed attack drones (including jet-powered variants), as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones launched from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Hvardiiske, and Chauda.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 7:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed one Kh-59/69 guided missile and 127 enemy drones over the country's north, south, east, and center.
A total of 26 attack drones struck targets at nine locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at four locations. The Kh-59 missile failed to reach its target.
Russian attacks on Ukraine
As reported earlier, on the night of July 25, Russia launched a drone attack on the Poltava region. Four gas stations were damaged in the strike, but no casualties were reported.
Russian forces also attacked Zaporizhzhia. The strike set a shopping mall on fire, and casualties have already been reported.
In addition, on the evening of Thursday, July 24, Russian forces attacked Sumy with drones. The attack caused a gas station to catch fire, damaged a supermarket, and left people dead.
