Ukraine-Russia prisoner swap still in progress, contrary to Trump's claim

The large prisoner swap between Ukraine and Russia on May 25 has not yet been completed. The exchange process is ongoing, sources say.
US President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that the prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia had been completed.
"A major prisoners swap was just completed between Russia and Ukraine. It will go into effect shortly. This could lead to something big???" Trump wrote.
RBC-Ukraine sources say that the exchange has not yet been completed and is ongoing.
Major POWs exchange
On May 16, Ukraine and Russia agreed to hold a prisoner exchange in the 1,000-for-1,000 format during the first negotiations in three years.
Türkiye said that it had proposed a prisoner exchange when the talks in Istanbul reached a dead end.
Ukraine began preparations for the exchange immediately. On the same day, May 16, the intelligence reported preparing lists of names for prisoner exchange. Two days later, Ukraine agreed on a plan for the exchange.
On May 22, Ukraine and Russia exchanged lists of names. It was also reported that the prisoner exchange would take place in several stages.
