On Wednesday, February 5, Ukraine returned 150 citizens from Russian captivity. Among those who returned were soldiers, sergeants, and officers, according to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine returned Naval Forces who were captured in Mariupol and Zaporizhzhia region, the Air Force, the Airborne Assault and Ground Forces, the National Guard, border guards, Territorial Defense Forces, as well as a policeman.

"They are all from different directions of the front, but they are united by one thing: they fought for Ukraine," Zelenskyy wrote.

Some of them had been in captivity for over 2 years.

"And today for them and their families is a day that weighs more than years of waiting. It is true happiness to see them home, alive, free," the President noted.

Previous exchanges

The last prisoner exchange took place on January 15. Then Ukraine returned 25 of its citizens from Russian captivity. Among them are defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, as well as civilians.

Before that, the previous exchange took place on Monday, December 30, when Ukraine returned another 189 of its citizens from Russian captivity.
