Situation in the Pokrovsk direction
The Pokrovsk direction in the east of Ukraine remains one of the hottest sections of the front. In recent days, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has repeatedly reported fierce fighting in this area.
Earlier, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces successfully carried out an effective combat operation there. An enemy assault group was destroyed, and one occupier was taken prisoner.
At the beginning of May, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Defense Forces had stabilized the situation in the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk region.
"The Pokrovsk direction is one of the most difficult sections of the front of the Russia-Ukraine war," wrote Syrskyi.
According to him, the warriors of the Defense Forces managed to stabilize the situation in this operational zone in the Donetsk region and, in some places, seize the tactical initiative.
At the same time, according to ISW data, the Russian army is expected to attempt to encircle Pokrovsk and bypass the fortified defense line in the Donetsk region from the west in the coming months.
