The aerial assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

"As of 09:00, 43 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and other drones have been confirmed destroyed," the military reported.

Air defense operations took place in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions.

Additionally, 15 enemy decoy drones were lost from radar tracking, while one remains airborne, and combat operations are ongoing.

Air raid alarms were declared across Ukraine around 10:00 PM Kyiv time on Saturday, January 18, due to the threat of ballistic missile attacks. Later, the threat expanded to include drone strikes.
