Ukraine receives special equipment from Germany to restore energy infrastructure

Ukraine has received a new batch of special equipment from Germany to restore its energy infrastructure. These are two Mercedec-Benz Arocs vehicles with a hiab crane for working on power grids, according to the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
According to the press service, this is part of a batch of 16 units of special equipment worth € 2.3 million purchased under the Ukrainian-German Energy Partnership and through a fundraising and procurement campaign implemented by GIZ.
Some of the vehicles have already been delivered to Ukraine and help power engineers in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Ternopil regions. The rest of the vehicles will be delivered to distribution system operators in Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy regions, and additional vehicles will be delivered to Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions.
Support from Germany
Since the beginning of the war until 2022, the German government has purchased and delivered energy goods worth more than €12 million under the Ukrainian-German Energy Partnership, including these repair trucks. In addition, transformers, generators, and solar panels provided by German companies have also been delivered and are now providing electricity to more than 550,000 people in Ukraine.
Since March 2022, Ukraine has received 120 shipments of humanitarian aid for the energy sector from Germany with a total weight of more than 1,670 tons, including transformers, generators, cables, overhead line fittings, and other equipment necessary for restoration work.
In addition, Germany will make a new contribution of € 50 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, bringing the total amount to over € 275 million. In total, the fund has accumulated € 545 million.
