Ukraine receives assurances from West about budget assistance in 2024
Ukraine has received assurances from its Western partners regarding the allocation of necessary budget support for 2024. Negotiations are ongoing for the following year, according to Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko.
According to him, the tenth meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ukraine Donors' Coordination Platform took place in Berlin.
"Thanks to joint efforts with our partners, including within the Coordination Platform, we have received assurances regarding the mobilization of the necessary funds by the end of 2024," he wrote.
The minister said that it is now critically important for the support to be delivered rhythmically and predictably, which will contribute to the stability and balance of the state budget.
"We continue to work together to ensure funding sources for budget needs in 2025," Marchenko added.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine's forecast, international financing is expected to amount to $37.9 billion in 2024, $25.1 billion in 2025, and $12.6 billion in 2026.
Earlier, Ukraine's Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko said that there was a $5 billion gap in the state budget needed for weapon purchases due to minimal Western assistance over the past six months.
