Ukraine confirms its readiness to release all Russian prisoners to bring back all Ukrainian captives, informs Suspilne, citing Petro Yatsenko, representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Commenting on the scale of the 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange, the Coordination Headquarters representative noted that it is logistically more complicated. Organizing such a large exchange in a short time is not easy.

However, he emphasized that the Ukrainian side is ready and working to ensure the process happens regularly without delays caused by technical issues.

Yatsenko also added that Ukraine is always ready to release all Russian prisoners and take back all Ukrainians.

1,000-for-1,000 prisoner swap

On May 16, Ukrainian and Russian delegations agreed on a prisoner exchange in the 1,000-for-1,000 format.

Later, it was decided that due to the scale of the exchange, the process would take place in several stages. The first exchange occurred yesterday, May 23. Both sides released 390 people each, including 270 military personnel and 120 civilians.

Today was the second day of the exchange. This time, 307 defenders of Ukraine returned home.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already made a statement about the final stage of the exchange scheduled for tomorrow.
