The Russian army is building up its forces in Russia’s Kursk and Belgorod regions. The enemy is engaging in combat in Ukraine’s border zone, but the Ukrainian military was prepared for this, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

According to Kovalenko, the Defense Forces had been preparing for such enemy actions. At the same time, all Russian activity is accompanied by aggressive propaganda about a supposed "collapse of the front" and their alleged "ability to advance as far as 50 kilometers."

Kovalenko noted that such statements by Russia do not reflect reality or their actual capabilities.

"The defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is sufficiently strong, and currently, Russian propaganda is traditionally inflating the capabilities of their troops to distort the real picture. The same thing happened a year ago with the events in Vovchansk, when the enemy claimed they were advancing on Kharkiv," Kovalenko wrote.

He emphasized that the fighting in the border area is intense and complicated due to the large number of enemy forces. However, their capabilities are far from what Russian military bloggers are claiming.

Russian offensive

Earlier, representatives of Ukrainian intelligence told the Financial Times that Russia is preparing for a large-scale offensive in Ukraine instead of signaling readiness for peace talks.

In addition, CNN reported that surveillance footage has been showing for several weeks that Russia is moving significant forces and equipment to positions just a few dozen kilometers from the front line.

According to the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group, Russia is amassing forces, and the summer offensive campaign has effectively already begun.

Meanwhile, according to Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Russian troops have captured several border villages in the Sumy region. The Armed Forces are holding the defense and preventing the enemy from advancing further.
