Several partner countries have confirmed their readiness to deploy troops to Ukraine following a ceasefire. Ukraine, in turn, will be ready in the future to deploy its forces in other regions of the world, states Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during the panel discussion Security Guarantees for Ukraine in Focus at the Munich Security Conference.
Sybiha explained that the presence of troops on the ground is an important part of security guarantees, particularly for business.
“If we have boots on the ground is also a deterrence and also a guarantee for future investors and it's also an element of encouraging them to invest in Ukraine,” the diplomat said.
According to the Foreign Minister, Ukraine has already received confirmation from some European countries and others of their readiness to deploy troops on the ground. However, this will take place only after a ceasefire.
In addition, the minister said that Kyiv is prepared to deploy its forces to other regions of the world in the future.
“I don't know if we are talking about the mandate of peacekeepers or a peace monitoring group. I don't know because it is still in the process but we need this presence in Ukraine also in future Ukraine is ready to deploy its military forces in other geographies,” Sybiha concluded.
Deployment of Coalition of the Willing troops in Ukraine
On February 13, French President Emmanuel Macron explained why countries in the Coalition of the Willing have not yet deployed troops to Ukraine.
According to the French leader, such a move would escalate the war and increase the risk of losing control of the situation. Therefore, this option is excluded until a ceasefire is in place.
At the end of December 2025, Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President Mykhailo Podolyak said that France, Germany, Türkiye, and the UK are ready to send their troops to Ukraine.
According to The Times, the UK and France are considering deploying approximately 15,000 soldiers if a peace agreement is reached.
