The law on multiple citizenship is a crucial issue for those fighting for Ukraine. After the blockage is lifted, the document will be signed without delay, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The head of state shared that he spoke with Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk about the parliament’s session next week.

“It is very important that the sessions are productive. The law on multiple citizenship has already been passed, and this is a significant issue, especially for those fighting for Ukraine. I am eagerly awaiting the unblocking of this law so it can be signed immediately,” the president stated.

President Zelenskyy also informed that two significant decisions regarding international agreements have already been prepared.

First and foremost, there is an agreement on establishing a Special Tribunal for Russia’s crimes. The president emphasized that it must be ratified and added, “It is also worth supporting Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention on mines.”

“Russia has never been a participant in this convention and actively uses all types of mines. Ukraine needs parity in protection - this includes the political and legal foundations of such parity. In fact, the entire Central and Eastern European region, all those neighboring Russia, are reconsidering their stance on mines. And this is completely understandable,” the head of state stressed.

Additionally, Zelenskyy reported that a draft law on the military ombudsman has been prepared for a second reading.

“This new systemic step is necessary to implement essential changes in the army. I will be grateful to the members of parliament who support these and other critically important decisions for our country this week,” the president concluded.
