Ukraine may agree to diplomatic settlement of the war, Zelenskyy
By putting pressure on Russia, a diplomatic settlement of the war in Ukraine can be agreed upon – territories are not always retaken by force, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with BBC.
He said that the whole world must put pressure on Russia to persuade it to come to the table and consider the possibility of ending the war.
"It doesn’t mean that all territories are won back by force. I think the power of diplomacy can help," he said, adding that a weaker Russia on the battlefield would put Ukraine in a stronger position at the negotiating table.
"By putting pressure on Russia, I think it is possible to agree to a diplomatic settlement," the President said.
It is noteworthy that the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that the Kremlin's harsh and uncompromising conditions for peace negotiations are tantamount to Ukraine's capitulation and indicate Vladimir Putin's disinterest in fair negotiations on any terms other than Russian ones.
Recently, Russian state media published comments by Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev in a certain interpretation. It supports the Kremlin's efforts to prepare Russians for a prolonged war in Ukraine, the goal of which allegedly will be achieved within 10 years through the destruction of Ukrainian statehood.
Earlier, Putin named Kyiv's renunciation of four Ukrainian regions and NATO membership as a condition for a ceasefire against Ukraine.
