Ukraine loses 6.5 billion hryvnias in March due to Ukrainian-Polish border blockade
In March, Ukraine lost UAH 6.5 billion due to the blockade of the Ukrainian-Polish border, according to Danylo Hetmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.
"UAH 6.5 billion. This is how much Ukraine will lose in customs revenues as a result of the border blockade in March," Hetmantsev says, noting that this amount would be enough to provide eight brigades.
He also adds that last time this figure was 7 billion hryvnias.
Protests of Polish farmers
Polish farmers have been blocking the movement of trucks on the Polish-Ukrainian border for several months. This has caused significant difficulties in crossing the border in both directions. According to the farmers, the blockades continue at six checkpoints and will last until April 30.
Also today, March 20, farmers organized nationwide protests with a total of 70,000 participants.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is confident that positive news about the unblocking of the border can be expected shortly.
