Ukraine introduces transport visa-free regime with Montenegro
Ukraine and Montenegro have agreed on a transport visa-free regime for freight transportation. It will come into effect on June 1, 2024, according to the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Ukraine has agreed with the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs of Montenegro to liberalize all freight traffic between the two countries from June 1, 2024.
The Ukrainian government is also working to expand regular and irregular bus service with Montenegro.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the negotiations also raised the issue of the possibility of non-participation of passenger transportation by Ukrainian companies.
"The parties have now agreed that if the Montenegrin carrier refuses to operate the route, the Ukrainian company can operate the route independently," the statement says.
Transport visa-free regime
This is the ability to carry out transportation without the need for special permits. Ukraine has a transport visa-free regime with 36 countries, including the European Union.
The Ministry of Infrastructure notes that last year Ukraine agreed on a transport visa-free regime with Norway, and North Macedonia, and extended the relevant agreement with Moldova and Türkiye.
