Ukraine intercepts Russian order to use chemical weapons on frontlines

The Russian army continues to use banned chemical weapons against the Ukrainian military at the front, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
In the conversation intercepted by Ukrainian intelligence officers, the commander of the Russian army orders to attack on the positions of Ukrainian troops with chemical weapons prohibited by humanitarian law.
"It is useless to carry a "lighter", it will not catch fire. If the chemicals are normal, you can try it. No, bring a VOG (high-explosive grenade launcher - ed.). Or two VOGs," the Russian said.
Russians use chemical weapons in Ukraine
The EU Council has prepared a new sanctions regulation, in which Russia is officially accused for the first time of using CS tear gas at the front in Ukraine as a method of warfare.
In the explanatory part of the document, European officials refer to the reports of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which were published at the request of the Ukrainian side in November 2024 and February 2025.
Earlier, the DIU reported that Russians systematically use chemicals at the front. In particular, in the Zaporizhzhia region, cases of Russian use of poison gas ammunition are increasingly recorded.
In addition, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has released a report confirming the detection of a toxic substance in samples collected in the combat zone in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
These reports analyze cases of gas use near the villages of Marivka and Illinka in 2024.
