On October 21 alone, Ukraine’s Defense Forces inflicted casualties on 2,250 Russian troops, including those killed and wounded. This is an all-time record for the full-scale war, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
“Ukrainians are doing everything possible to preserve the life of every service member and civilian. In Russia, however, a soldier is merely a resource – one that is not spared and is simply sent to be destroyed,” the Ukrainian military said.
The General Staff also published a ranking of the days on which Russian forces suffered their highest daily personnel losses:
-
October 21, 2026 — 2,250 troops;
-
December 19, 2024 — 2,200 troops;
-
October 18, 2026 — 2,100 troops;
-
September 27, 2026 — 2,090 troops;
-
November 28, 2024 — 2,030 troops.
Notably, three of the five highest figures were recorded in September and October 2026.
Moreover, the General Staff said the previous record had stood for about two years.
Ukraine’s General Staff noted that Russia’s total personnel losses since the beginning of 2026 have reached approximately 363,820. Since February 24, 2022, Russian forces have lost a total of 1,572,790 troops, according to the Ukrainian military.
“Enemy losses are increasing month by month. In February 2026, they stood at 26,090, while in September they reached 46,230. September saw the highest monthly figure since the beginning of the year,” the defenders said.
The General Staff also reported that in less than three weeks of October, Russian army losses had reached nearly 37,000 personnel.
“Ukraine’s Defense Forces are systematically depleting the Russian army’s offensive capabilities in order to completely stop Russia’s armed aggression against our country,” the General Staff concluded.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Ukrainian troops had destroyed a major Russian division during Operation Vivaldi.
It also reported how much territory Ukrainian defenders had recaptured during the latest phase of the operation.
