Ukraine inflicts daily losses on Russian troops while holding key Donetsk positions - Zelenskyy

Ukrainian forces continue to defend the Donetsk direction. The Armed Forces of Ukraine inflict daily losses on Russian troops, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He reported that he had received detailed briefings from the military on the situation at the front.
"First of all, regarding the Donetsk direction — Pokrovsk and other key areas. We are defending our positions. Importantly, this is an active defense. We destroy the occupiers every day. I thank each of our units for their resilience and precision," Zelenskyy said.
The President added that Ukraine is working to ensure the army will have sufficient weapons and equipment by autumn.
"There will be meetings and contacts with our partners. We are planning a very active diplomatic week," he said.
Putin's "wish list" rejected
Recently, Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff officially confirmed that Russia presented a peace proposal regarding the Donetsk region.
Earlier, the media suggested that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, proposed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine fully withdraw from Donbas. In exchange, he allegedly offered to halt fighting in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions and to discuss Russian withdrawal from the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
Zelenskyy has repeatedly rejected the idea of a Ukrainian withdrawal from Donbas. He has warned that concessions to Russia without security guarantees could open the door to new aggression and risk a "third war."
A week ago, he also suggested that Russia invented the idea of a Ukrainian withdrawal from Donbas to present it to its population as a "victory."
