Ukraine holds line in Sumy region as Russia sends in small infantry raids

Russia amasses its forces in the Kursk region and tries to infiltrate Ukraine in small groups. Despite this, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are repelling Russian troops and destroying the subversive group in the Sumy region, says Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the Siversk operational tactical group.
According to him, the Russian army has certain accumulations in the Kursk region and is trying to expand the area of active combat operations. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are destroying the Russian troops as much as possible and preventing them from advancing deeper into Ukraine.
"They (the Russians - ed.) have certain accumulations on the territory of the Kursk region and (are trying to - ed.) expand the zone of active combat operations, enter our territory with small groups of infantry. Ukrainian Defense Forces are destroying the Russian troops as much as possible, preventing them from advancing into the depths of the Ukrainian territory," says Mysnyk.
He also notes that attempts by Russian subversive reconnaissance groups have been observed in the Sumy region. However, the defense system on Ukrainian borders is very dense.
"There is still a danger of using (subversive reconnaissance groups - ed.), but we have enough technical means and air assets to detect such groups promptly, to repel or destroy them. But Russian troops are still trying to conduct a kind of reconnaissance by combat in different directions to probe Ukrainian defense, identify Ukrainian positions, and then use artillery or air strikes on their side," said Misnyk.
At the same time, according to the head of the Sumy regional military administration, Oleh Hryhorov, Russian troops have seized several border villages in the Sumy region. Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line and not allowing Russian troops to advance.
