Ukraine already has interceptor drones capable of countering Russia’s jet-propelled Shaheds, said Pavlo Palisa, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

A journalist asked Palisa about the effectiveness of Ukraine’s interceptor drones.

"Different models show different effectiveness. But many factors affect this — from the model itself to crew training and weather conditions," Palisa replied.

He said Ukraine is trying to build an optimal layered system at different ranges and altitudes to deal with mass aerial threats effectively.

The deputy head of the Presidential Office was also asked whether Ukraine has protection against Russia’s jet-propelled Shaheds.

"We also have interceptor drones that are capable of fighting Shaheds with jet engines. The enemy evolves, and we are making progress — we have no alternative," Palisa said.

Jet-propelled Shaheds

Russian forces have used jet-propelled Shaheds several times to strike Ukrainian civilian cities.

Aviation expert Valerii Romanenko told RBC-Ukraine’s YouTube channel that such unmanned aerial vehicles are not invulnerable.

Romanenko noted that in some cases, jet-propelled Shaheds are even easier to destroy than conventional ones.
