Ukraine finalizing major defense agreement with European partners, Zelenskyy says

Ukraine is finalizing a new defense agreement with European partners that will cover air defense systems, long-range weapons, and the expansion of defense technologies, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President said Ukraine is working with European partners to expand the PURL program and increase purchases of American weapons.
"Specifically, this concerns air defense and some of our long-range systems. Next week, we will discuss with partners in Europe new contributions to the PURL program," he said.
There should be zero Russian energy in Europe. The signals from America are clear—they are ready to supply as much gas and oil as needed to replace Russian supplies. Our region has the necessary infrastructure and potential to contribute to Europe’s energy independence way more. pic.twitter.com/IHyUFEmvom

He added that important agreements on weapons and defense technologies with certain countries are already being prepared.
"There will be an expansion of our capabilities. The Office team is currently finalizing one agreement that we have been preparing for several months," Zelenskyy explained.
What is PURL
PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) is a US and NATO initiative that allows Ukraine to receive critically needed weapons through targeted funding of US-made supplies.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said the program is a key mechanism for providing the country with American weapons and defense equipment.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte noted that more than half of NATO countries have already joined the program.
