Ukraine eyes record medal chances at Winter Olympics this Saturday

Saturday, February 14, promises to be the busiest day for the national team at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Thirteen Ukrainian athletes will compete for medals in six different winter sports disciplines.

Record number of starts: who will represent Ukraine
The eighth day of competition in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo will be the largest for the Ukrainian team since the opening of the Games.
Our athletes will compete in the following sports:

Biathlon and cross-country skiing

Ski jumping and short track
-
Alpine skiing and freestyle
Almost all Ukrainians taking part this Saturday will compete in the final rounds and fight directly for Olympic medals.
The only exception is the qualification in women’s big air.

The competition marathon will begin with the morning alpine skiing run and end late in the evening with short track finals.
Schedule of starts (Kyiv time):
- 11:00 – Alpine skiing: Dmytro Shepiuk (giant slalom, 1st run)
- 13:00 – Cross-country skiing: women's relay (S. Shkatula, A. Nikon, A. Nopriienko, D. Myhal)
- 14:30 – Alpine skiing: men's giant slalom final
- 15:45 – Biathlon: women's sprint (Y. Dyma, K. Dmytrenko, O. Horodna, O. Merkushyna)
- 19:45 – Ski jumping: Y. Marusiak, V. Kalinichenko (main round, large hill)
- 20:30 – Freestyle: Kateryna Kotsar (big air, qualification)
- 20:57 – Ski jumping: large hill final
- 21:15 – Short track: Oleh Handei (1500 m, quarterfinals)
- 23:35 – Short track: 1500 m medal race
