Ukraine explains presence of North Korean military in Donetsk region
The presence of the North Korean military in the Donetsk region is linked to the use of DPRK weapons by the Russians, explains Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
“The presence of the DPRK military in the Donetsk region is mainly related to small numbers of engineer troops and is due to the fact that a large amount of ammunition from the DPRK is of poor quality,” he explained.
According to Kovalenko, these troops accompany the cargo, record defects, and monitor the use of ammunition by the Russian army.
“Russia is increasingly dependent on ammunition from the DPRK for various types of weapons. Also, the KN23 ballistic missile is of poor quality,” the military said.
Elimination of DPRK military near Donetsk
Recently, the media reported that more than 20 soldiers, including six officers from North Korea, were killed near Donetsk as a result of a missile strike on October 3.
Three more DPRK soldiers were wounded.
On October 5, RBC-Ukraine's sources said that the October 3 strike near Donetsk had indeed killed more than 20 militants, six of them North Korean military. They had come to Donbas to “exchange experience.”
