Ukraine can produce 8 million drones per year, but there’s a catch - Zelenskyy

Ukraine’s defense industry is capable of producing 8 million drones per year, but it lacks the necessary funding, according to the speech of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Defense Industries Forum in The Hague.
"Our defense potential has surpassed 35 billion US dollars. This includes nearly 1,000 types of products from artillery and traditional armed vehicles to advanced drones of all types and missiles," the president said.
He clarified that about 40% of this total potential lacks the necessary funding, which is a problem.
"We can produce over 8 million drones of various types each year. But the financing allows far fewer," Zelenskyy explained.
Drone production in Ukraine
Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine has significantly increased the production of both reconnaissance and strike drones. In particular, Ukrainian companies have begun manufacturing long-range drones capable of hitting targets on Russian territory.
On June 2 alone, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kozenko stated that the Ukrainian defense industry is capable of producing around 10 million drones annually.
Additionally, on June 24, it was reported that the United Kingdom will finance the production of Ukrainian drones.
