Ukraine and France have taken a step closer to simplifying the exchange of driver's licenses. A corresponding declaration has been signed, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reports.

According to Shmyhal, the declaration will serve as the basis for a future agreement. After its conclusion, Ukrainians residing in France will be able to exchange their driver's licenses without the need to retake the exam.

Furthermore, during the working visit to Paris:

  • a Cooperation Program between the secretariats was signed. It provides for the exchange of experience and information, as well as expert assistance to Ukraine in the negotiation process on the path to the European Union (EU);
  • an agreement was signed to expand opportunities for Ukrainian pupils, students, and teachers to learn the French language in schools and universities.

"France will host the Ukrainian culture-dedicated seasons 'Voyage en Ukraine / Journey to Ukraine' - a series of large-scale artistic events and activities to promote Ukrainian culture, which will take place in various cities and regions of the country from December 2025 to March 2026," added Shmyhal.

RBC-Ukraine also previously reported that in 2023 the Ukrainian government approved an agreement between Ukraine and Lithuania implementing a simplified exchange of driver's licenses without additional exams.
