On May 8, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a tea conversation during the latter's visit to Moscow. Among the topics raised was the war in Ukraine, the official website of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

During the conversation, Xi Jinping stated that the world has entered a new period of turbulence and change. He particularly emphasized the importance of strategic stability between China and Russia, so that "no force can stop the development and revival of the two countries," as well as their peoples' "aspiration for friendship."

Putin, in turn, said that both countries "have always been in the same boat and supported each other," and that the friendship between them is "unbreakable." He also stressed the "joint resistance to the challenges of a complex international environment," deepening cooperation, and "promoting the development of the world in the direction of justice, democracy, and multipolarity."

Issue of war in Ukraine

"The Heads of the two states exchanged views on the crisis in Ukraine and other issues. Xi noted that regarding the crisis (the full-scale war - ed.) in Ukraine, China advocates and adheres to a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable view of global security, believing that the legitimate security concerns of all countries should be taken seriously and the root causes of the crisis eliminated," China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote.

The Ministry added that the Russian dictator "highly values" China's position on the "political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis" and also expressed the readiness of the terrorist state, Russia, to "begin peace talks without preconditions."
