Today, August 13, the European football scene will host the 50th anniversary UEFA Super Cup. The match will feature PSG, the Champions League winner, and Tottenham, the Europa League champion.

PSG: Triumphant season and squad losses

The Parisians had an impressive last season, winning all domestic trophies and, for the first time in history, claiming the Champions League title by thrashing Inter 5-0 in the final.

However, they could not end the year perfectly because Luis Enrique’s team lost to Chelsea 0-3 in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

Only a month has passed since then, so the players have had almost no time to rest. Moreover, Gianluigi Donnarumma will not play in the Super Cup match because he is leaving the club after disagreements over a new contract.

Ahead of the UEFA Super Cup game, PSG showed on social media that newcomer Illia Zabarnyi met his teammates and coach Luis Enrique for the first time at the airport and on the plane to Udine, Italy.

Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov did not appear in the footage; unlike the Ukrainian, he is included in the squad for the match.

Tottenham: Setbacks in the Premier League and success in Europe

Last season, London's Tottenham had a disastrous campaign in the English Premier League, finishing only 17th in the standings.

At the same time, European competitions brought joy to their fans. In the Europa League, the Spurs reached the final and beat Manchester United 1-0, winning the UEL trophy and earning a spot in the Champions League.

In the summer, the club's management opted for a new coaching vision by hiring Dane Thomas Frank, who had worked successfully with Brentford.

Before the season began, the team played six friendlies: two wins, three draws, and a crushing 0-4 defeat to Bayern.

In the Super Cup match, the Londoners will have to do without injured players Radu Drăgușin, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon.

Statistics and prediction

The only official meeting between the teams took place in 2017 in a friendly match, where the London side won 4-2.

Bookmaker GGBET considers PSG the favorite: PSG win 1.46, draw 4.88, Tottenham win 6.6.

Where to watch the match

The match will take place in Udine, Italy, at the Friuli Stadium. Kick-off is at 10:00 PM Kyiv time.
