U.S. imposed sanctions on Russian individuals and companies for transferring missiles from North Korea
The United States imposed sanctions on January 11 against an individual and three companies for transferring ballistic missiles from North Korea, according to the U.S. State Department.
The sanctioned entities include:
Joint-Stock Company 224th Aviation Unit of State Airlines. According to the U.S., two Russian aircraft belonging to this airline with registration numbers RA-78817 and RA-82030 were involved in transporting ballistic missiles and related cargo from North Korea in late November 2023.
Vladimir Mikheychik is the CEO of the 224th Aviation Unit of State Airlines.
The Vladimirivka Advanced Weapons and Research Complex (VAWARC) includes facilities, airfields, and missile ranges that were engaged in transferring ballistic missiles to Russia and testing North Korean ballistic missiles at the end of 2023.
Ashuluk Range is a Russian missile test range.
In addition to the two previously identified aircraft, the Department has also blocked four other aircraft owned by VTA. These aircraft, with registration numbers RF-86898, RF-78757, RF-82011, and RF-82041, are estimated by the Department to have participated in transporting North Korean ballistic missiles and related cargo in November and December 2023.
U.S. sanctions against Russia
Earlier, we reported that the United States imposed new sanctions against the assets of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby, the U.S. aims to introduce additional sanctions against those who facilitate the supply of weapons between Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
