The exchange rate of the dollar in Ukraine's exchange offices continues to decline after a sharp increase at the beginning of the week. The single European currency has also become cheaper, according to market monitoring data.

As of the morning of September 22, the average exchange rate of the dollar in Ukraine has fallen by 25 kopecks to 38.15 hryvnias, and the euro rate has dropped by 20 kopecks to 41.10 hryvnias.

The dollar is being bought at exchange offices at an average rate of 37.65 hryvnias, and the euro at 40.40 hryvnias.

The official exchange rate of the dollar set by the National Bank of Ukraine has remained unchanged since July 21 of the previous year at 36.5686 hryvnias per dollar. The official exchange rate of the euro on September 22 is 38.8944 hryvnias per euro (-0.2450 hryvnias).

Dollar exchange rate

The dollar exchange rate sharply increased at the beginning of the current week, reaching its highest level since August at 38.60 hryvnias. After that, the exchange rate began to decline.

Earlier, Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko said it would be better for the hryvnia to weaken. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine expects a slight devaluation of the national currency against the dollar in 2024. The 2024 budget includes a rate of 41.4 hryvnias/dollar.

The Council for Financial Stability stated that in 2023, together with the measures of the National Bank of Ukraine, they have stabilized exchange rate expectations. At the same time, the level of risks in the foreign exchange market remains stable after the surge in 2022.
