U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has returned to work at the Pentagon after complications related to a prostate cancer surgery, reports Bloomberg.

According to the Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder, Austin was released from the hospital on January 15.

He also added that the Pentagon chief had been working from home since he was released from the hospital and has been "actively engaged with multiple leaders to include the White House, with the US Central Command, with the chairman of joint chiefs, and of course maintains regular contact with Congress on a variety of issues.”

What preceded

Recall that at the beginning of January, a scandal erupted in the U.S. regarding the secret hospitalization of Austin. Even President Joe Biden was unaware of this.

Following this, some Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, called for Austin's dismissal.

In response, Biden refused to take such actions.

Since January 15, Austin has been working from home. During this time, he even chaired a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramshtain format).
