Two-time Oscar winner Gene Hackman and his wife found dead: What is known

The legendary actor Gene Hackman has died. The 95-year-old Hollywood star and his 63-year-old wife were found without signs of life in their home, reports Variety.
The couple was found dead on February 27. The lifeless corpse of their dog was reportedly lying next to the couple.

Local media outlets note that there are no suspicions of criminal activity. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed that the people did not die of violent deaths.
"We will determine the exact cause later. All I can say is that we are in the process of a preliminary investigation into the death and are waiting for a search warrant to be approved," the officer said.

Hackman was married twice. His first wife, Faye Maltese, bore him three children, and later he married Betsy Arakawa.

Gene was known for his versatility, as he played both positive characters and antagonists. The role of the paranoid Harry Cole in the psychological thriller The Conversation remains the pinnacle of Hackman's acting and his best work in film.
Gene was a two-time Oscar and BAFTA winner, three-time Golden Globe Award winner and a National Board of Film Critics Award winner, and a Berlin Film Festival prize winner.
