Tuapse oil refinery burns for second day after drone attack

A local oil refinery in Tuapse, Russia, has been on fire for two days. It was attacked the night before, on March 14, according to the Telegram channel Astra.
Footage of the massive fire at the Tuapse oil refinery has surfaced online. Thick black smoke can be seen from a considerable distance from the plant.
Russian media state that nearly 190 firefighters and over fifty vehicles are working to extinguish the fire.
"Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and regional emergency services continue to cool the walls of the burning tank and nearby structures to prevent the fire from spreading," Russian media reports.
Attack on the Tuapse oil refinery
In the early hours of March 14, explosions were heard in Tuapse, Russia. The Russians reported a drone attack and a strike on the local oil refinery, resulting in a fire.
It is worth noting that this is not the first attack on the Tuapse oil refinery. The plant was also targeted in November last year.
According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, the refinery is one of the largest in Russia, with a processing capacity of about 12 million tons of oil per year. He stated that the refinery holds strategic importance for the Russian military, as it supplies fuel to the Black Sea Fleet and military infrastructure in the southern part of the country.
