Tsunami threat: Major earthquake occurs off coast of USA
An earthquake with a magnitude of approximately 7.0 on the Richter scale occurred off the coast of the United States. In this context, a tsunami is possible, as announced by the United States Geological Survey and the National Tsunami Warning Center, according to CNN.
The Geological Survey notes that the earthquake occurred off the coast of Northern California, approximately 64 km from the town of Petrolia.

The National Tsunami Warning Center notes that there is a tsunami threat for parts of the coastlines of California and Oregon.
It is worth mentioning that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 on the Richter scale is considered very strong.
As a result of such an earthquake, cracks may appear in walls, pieces of plaster may fall off, and chimneys may be partially damaged.

The National Tsunami Warning Center reported that the tsunami threat for California and Oregon has been lifted.
However, a small change in ocean height of several centimeters was recorded approximately 300 kilometers off the coast of California.
