Trump wavers on support for hardline sanctions against Russia

US President Donald Trump is unsure whether he will support tougher sanctions against Russia, accordibg to his statement at the Andrews Joint Base in Maryland. The bill in question was introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham.
Journalists asked the US president if he supports Senator Graham’s sanctions bill against Russia.
"I don’t know. I have to see it. I’ll take a look at it," Trump responded.

Graham in Kyiv said the Senate may begin considering the sanctions bill against Russia next week.
Sanctions against Russia
Recall that on May 20, the EU adopted its 17th package of sanctions against Russia and has already started working on new restrictions.
Earlier, leaders of France, Germany, the UK, and other European countries stated they are ready to strengthen sanctions against Moscow if it refuses to cease fire or take other steps toward peace.
US President Donald Trump also said he is considering sanctions against Russia. However, Washington is in no hurry to impose them. Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained this by saying that sanctions might cause Russia to withdraw from negotiations to end the war against Ukraine.
As previously reported, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham initiated a bill that proposes “crippling” sanctions against Russia. Among other measures, it would impose 500% tariffs on imports from countries that continue buying Russian energy resources — oil, gas, petroleum products, and uranium.
