North Korea tested a new cruise missile ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to the APEC summit. In response, the American leader promised to deal with the country, according to a White House broadcast.

During a conversation with reporters, Trump was asked to comment on North Korea’s missile launch.

“Oh, I don't know. They've been... he's been launching missiles for decades, right? Just another missile that was launched,” Trump said, apparently referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

He added that he has always had a very good relationship with the North Korean leader and that they will meet again at some point. At the same time, the US president promised to deal with North Korea.

“At some point, I look forward to. We had a very good relationship. I mean, we had a really good understanding of each other. We met and we spoke to each other numerous times, and good relationship. At some point, we'll be involved with North Korea,” the American leader said.

Trump was also asked whether his remarks meant that there would be no meeting with the North Korean leader during his visit to Asia.

“I don't know. The people are trying, I think they'd like to, and I'd like to, but I also want to focus on China. I mean, our focus is now on tomorrow with China, and I want to make that the focus. But we'll come back, and we'll at some point in the not-too-distant future meet with North Korea,” the US president replied.

North Korea’s missile test

On October 28, North Korea carried out a test launch of a sea-to-surface cruise missile in the Yellow Sea.

The missile, which was specially modified for ship-based launches, was fired vertically and flew for 2 hours and 10 minutes.

North Korean state media did not disclose any other details about the missile.
