The secret documents seized during an FBI search of the Mar-a-Lago residence in 2022 will be returned to US President Donald Trump. These documents were confiscated as part of an investigation, but a decision has now been made to return them, CNN reports.
According to the media resource, in addition to the documents, Trump will also receive personal items seized during the searches, including clothing, gifts, press clippings, and photos of Celine Dion.
Although Trump was accused of illegally storing classified documents after his first term in office, his return to the White House means he will again have the authority to control classified materials of the US government.
Trump's case about 'classified documents'
On June 9, 2023, Trump was charged with 37 counts related to his possession of classified documents that he had taken from the White House. He later faced additional charges in the case.
At that time, law enforcement discovered a number of classified documents in his Mar-a-Lago residence that he was supposed to return to the National Archives.
Furthermore, last summer, Florida District Judge Aileen Cannon decided to dismiss the case against former US President Donald Trump for improper storage of classified documents.
