Trump to discuss potential Putin meeting with Zelenskyy, White House says

US President Donald Trump plans to discuss the possibility of Kyiv and Moscow holding talks at the leadership level during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Journalists asked Leavitt whether Putin had mentioned in his conversation with Trump what it would take for him to finally agree to meet with Zelenskyy.
"I don't want to get into that, but as I've just said, the President and President Putin discussed meeting together in Budapest, and President Trump will talk about that opportunity with President Zelenskyy when he's here at the White House tomorrow," Leavitt said.
Zelenskyy has repeatedly stated he is ready to meet with Putin. The only obstacle to such talks is the Kremlin leader himself.
Zelenskyy and Trump meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington yesterday, October 16.
He has already met with representatives of the US defense company Lockheed Martin. The discussions focused on strengthening Ukraine's air defense and the potential delivery of F-16 fighter jets and missiles for them.
Today, October 17, in the evening, Zelenskyy will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
According to Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the main topic will be expanding the list of weapons the US is ready to provide to Ukraine, including long-range Tomahawk missiles.
